Another excellent alternative to wire rope for most winching and rigging applications. Ultrex is a high grade UHMWPE fibre with a Maxijacket coating for superior abrasion resistance, it carries a safety factor of 5:1. It's braid angles and twist level are designed to optimize break strength and it has better bend over sheath resistance than other high modulous fibre ropes. Ultrex has zero water absorption and maintains its flexibility even in freezing conditions.
Ultrex is not as suitable for electric winches as it has a significantly lower melting point than other high modulous fibres, but its strength to diameter ratio is right at the top end of the scale and is therefore a popular choice for hydraulic winch drums.
